Rodeo Queen Contest Rules

Qualifications and Requirements

 

Contestant Must:

  • Have been born a female.
  • Be a legal resident of the United States.
  • Be a student in good standing.
  • Not been married, nor had a marriage nullified.
  • Not have been or be pregnant.
  • Have not convicted or been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony of any kind.
  • Have written statement confirming obligations with other organizations she hold title to.- And statements must show that current obligations do not interfere with those of the NTSF.
  • Current Miss NTSF, Teen and Princess Titleholders are not eligible to compete in the NTSF contest for a minimum of one year after the end of their reign.
  • Prior NTSF titleholders are eligible to compete in the appropriate age groups the following years.- Former state titleholders, at least a minimum of six months have expired (since giving up their State Title) to run in the same age division as the State Title.
  • Have read and sign all documents, wavier, and liability release forms prior to competition.
  • Represent themselves for the NTSF and Rodeo Title
  • Abide by all rules and obligations of the NTSF.
  • At no time is contestant, parent, family or anyone acting on behalf of the contestant, approach or communicate in ANY form with the judges.- All questions must be directed to Jana Akins, Coordinator or her designee for clarification by the judges.

Contestants who cannot meet the above requirements or qualifications may be denied the right to compete for the NTSF titles.

Ages:

3 pageant divisions are open nationwide to females ages 7-24.
Age is considered the first day of the Pageant, August 19, 2011.

Queen - 18-24
Teen - 13-17
Princess - 7-12

Entry Fee & Deadline:

Queen - $100
Teen - $75
Princess - $50

••• Entry Deadline - July 15, 2011•••

Entries must be postmarked no later than July 15th, 2011 and received within 3 days of deadline.
Entries must be complete with:

  • Official Entry Form
  • Entry Fee
  • (2) 5x7 photographs
    • Photographs need to be vertical head & shoulder shot with plain background.- Name, Address, Age and Division must be labeled on the back of each photograph.- All photographs will become the property of the NTSF and Rodeo and will not be returned.
  • Liability Release Form

Entries not received by deadline or non-complete will be dismissed.- Once entry has been received the contestant will be notified by Jana Akins or Jill Shaw.

Judging and Scoring:

Horsemanship - 30%
Modeling - 25%
Ticket Sales - 25%
Speech - 20%

Horsemanship

Bring a horse that helps you display your current level of skill and talent.- All contestants failing to exhibit control over their horse, either during the competition or otherwise will be removed from that phase of the competition for the safety of all participants.

Judges will ask questions to each contestant to see their level or knowledge they have of horses and the horse industry and their personal background dealing with horses.

The contestant will be ask to perform a pattern from AQHA.- Pattern will be given at orientation.

Modeling

Each contestant of all ages should be able to introduce themselves on microphone.- This will be a “fashion show”.- Be prepared to speak about your outfit, with special attention to designer, design and detail of outfit.-
Each contestant should wear their favorite western attire, one that makes them feel good.- It should be of dress, western hat and western boots. Leather is not required for modeling portion of competition. Judges will be looking for how well the contestant wears their clothing and how confident and positive they are.

Ticket Sales

Each contestant is required to sell a minimum of $500 in tickets.- Ticket sells will be accumulated by individual tickets and ad sales.

$500 = 10 points
$1000 = 15 points
$2000 = 20 points
$3000 = 25 points
$3500 = 30 points
$4000 = 35 points
$4500 = 40 points
$5000 = 45 points
$5500 = 50 points

Tickets and Sponsorship Packages will be available to each contestant at orientation.-

Speech

Queen/Teen: 1-2 minutes
Princess: No minimum

Each contestant should be able to speak on microphone.- Topics for speech will be given at orientation.

Interviews

Interviews are done during horsemanship and throughout the competition for the judges to become see what each contestant can bring to the NTSF, Rodeo, and the Horse Industry as a whole.- Interviews will be judged during horsemanship and modeling portions of competition.
